[Capital City] Goodies!

Well, I don’t have any case updates to share (boo) but I do have some good news to pass along (yay). As I mentioned last week, our kids (along with 16 others) are now living in the transition house in [Capital City] until their new families come to take them home. We were told by our agency that the house, while very nice and comfortable, was not stocked with toys, clothes, or the every day supplies that they will need to house all these rug-rats. So, last week, myself and a group of a-mazing [Home Country] moms worked together to buy and send tons of stuff to our cuties in the [Home Country]. Our house was shipping central so I was lucky enough to receive all the packages and ooohhh and aaahhh over all the goodies before I packed it all up & shipped it out. And I am so excited about this shipment! There are toys, books, crayons, clothes, undies, socks, plates, cups, plastic forks/spoons, hair bows, vitamins, first-aid kits, etc., etc., etc.! So much fabulous stuff! These items will be used by so many kiddos over the next few months & years during their temporary stay on their journey to their forever homes. I LOVE that we were able to do this! Thank you SO MUCH to all the mommies who participated! I adore you ladies!!!

So, of course, I have to share pictures! Keep in mind when you look at these that these pics were taken AFTER I had already used my mad packing skills to consolidate all the items into an many tiny packages as possible. There was SO much stuff! It was wonderful! The final box of stuff weighed 88.5 pounds!

We are shipping it to [Capital City] using a wonderful company out of Kentucky called O[Home Country]. I HIGHLY recommend this shipping company for all your [Home Country] shipping needs! James, at O[Home Country], is wonderful to work with and his rates are much better than DHL!

So, they should be getting this HUGE package soon and hopefully we’ll be getting some good news even sooner!

  1. How sweet! Those pictures brought tears to my eyes! How great that y’all were able to come together and provide for those kids! LOVE it!!!

  2. Hey, Kati-girl!! I am sorry I missed this shipment!! I couldn’t get it together in time!! What a great idea and what a great turn out!! I will send something directly soon too! I’ll be praying for us both to get some good updates soon!! XO, Suzanne

    • It’s ok Suzanne, we had plenty of stuff! It will be good for others to send stuff along as time goes by to keep replenishing their stocks! :) Praying for good news for both of us soon too!

  3. Great that you all were able to send things. We are in the process and live in Shelbyville ky. How funny that I didn’t know that there is a [Home Country] shipping center in my little town.

    • Oh, that’s great! You can just drop some stuff off if you wanted to. James at O[Home Country] is fantastic! He’s a great person to stop by and get to know even if you’re not shipping anything!

  4. So awesome Kati! Love that you were able to do this! Thanks for the O[Home Country] link as well. Is it cheaper to ship to them and then have them ship again to the [Home Country]?

    • It is MUCH cheaper than DHL. I shipped the box to them and out to [Capital City] for $1000. That is obviously a butt-load of money BUT this box was almost 90lbs! And the quote I got from DHL was for $1800!!! So it was almost half as cheap! A much smaller box wouldn’t be bad at all. Plus James at O[Home Country] will let you order stuff from like Amazon and just have it shipped to him (usually free shipping) and he’ll just pack it up and ship it out for you. So that’s a way to cut some more costs. He just has to have a heads-up email that something is coming for you! :)
