HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!

Hooray for me, it’s my birthday! I have officially survived 31 years on this wonderful earth. And, 8 1/2 of them have been spent married to [L] so, you know, no small accomplishment! So what do I want to celebrate this momentous occasion? Well, my children would be great. Or a time machine would work too. Or, if anyone wants to give me my own personal plane so I could save several thousand dollars on airfare to Africa, that would be greatly appreciated. No? No time machines, private jets, or major string pullers in the audience? Hmmm. Looks like I’ve gotta make some new friends!

Actually what I want for my birthday is for all of YOU to buy yourself something…from me! What can I say? I’m a giver. Don’t you need a beautiful Uganda necklace or bracelet for my birthday? Can’t you just see yourself in a fabulous adoption t-shirt? Don’t you want to help us buy our plane tickets so I can finally go pick up my 2 very best presents EVER???

If you remember, waaaaaay back at the beginning of the year, I blogged about how an amazing friend had offered to donate a large amount of Sky-miles to use for our trip. Unfortunately, the airlines are not nearly as generous as the fabulous Mr. J we are not going to be able to use them to purchase our tickets. So, at this point, we are actually scrambling a little to find the cash to make this happen! I’ll be honest with you, these past few months have been a little rough. There have been some extra adoption expenses (not to mention household emergency expenses!) we had not expected and our budget has been stretched pretty thin. And we still have around $5000 to go in order meet our travel goal. Luckily, we also still have plenty of t-shirts for sale and a few pieces of jewelry available. So, I encourage you to treat yourself to one or the other (or both!) today in honor of ME! Or, just because you want one! And I’ll just pretend that it’s in honor of ME!
